Well, I have to admit I took the lazy way out and went on a Google search where I stumbled across this great blog article about just that topic. It is a little dated but the information remains the same. Chinese garlic does lack the tell tale roots that identify domestically grown garlic. In addition, it also has more "bulbous" cloves and we think it has a nasty aftertaste to boot.
Rest assured that we at Garlic Festival Foods work hard to make sure that our products are made ONLY from domestically grown garlic, and when "Garlic Season" hits in our fair valley (July-Jan) we stock only LOCALLY grown braids and loose garlic. We only sell the freshest garlic we can source from the farmers we have done business with for for years.
